A Marriott Bonvoy point has multiple potential uses. As was previously said, hotel stays make up the bulk of the value of Marriott Bonvoy points. As of April 2022, supply and demand will determine Marriott's award prices.
It's also worth noting that your points will expire if you haven't made any qualifying purchases with a Marriott Bonvoy credit card in the prior 24 months. Using a Marriott credit card, staying at a Marriott property, earning points through a Marriott Bonvoy partner, exchanging points, or buying points all count as qualifying actions.
In addition to hotel stays and car rentals, Marriott Bonvoy points can be redeemed for airline and car rental reservations, participation in the expedited security programs Priority Pass and TSA PreCheck, and even shopping or even giving to a good cause. When compared to redeeming points for hotel stays or upgrades or exchanging them for frequent flier miles, these options may indicate a poor use of points. When redeemed for free hotel stays, Marriott Bonvoy points are worth about 0.7 cents.
